INSIGHT: How to Practice Street Meditation
How do you practice street meditation? How do you develop mindfulness in crowded, noisy, urban spaces? The usual answer is to say, “Just seal yourself away from all of these irritating distractions. Find a place where you can be quiet and at peace." But there’s an alternative, more powerful, approach to this question. It’s what I like to call “street meditation.“ This is the ultimate practice of integrating mindfulness into the midst of every day life. In this practice, we turn toward rather than away from car horns, airplanes, and all the other chaotic situations of modern life.
